This position will serve as the point person representing Oklahoma Transportation for media, public and legislative inquiries in northeast Oklahoma. The position will have public relations responsibilities and will be tasked with research and serve as a liaison to field districts for their public relations and public speaking needs. Expedites day-to-day activities of the Strategic Communications office including documenting project progression through photos and video, analytical research for executives and ability to work independently and function as a one- or two-person PR office. Tulsa media knowledge is required as the candidate will maintain relationships with all media outlets, officials and agencies in northeastern Oklahoma.
Produces and writes a variety of pieces such as press releases, traffic advisories, articles, talking points and topic summaries. This includes producing social media content and website updates and working as part of a team to develop creative slogans and branding projects.
The position will represent the agency at various public meetings, which includes some travel to statewide field offices during and after hours.
On-call availability is necessary. Strong writing and problem-solving skills are required along with sound judgment, critical thinking, high-level organizational skills and high-caliber professionalism. Knowledge of Tulsa metro and northeast Oklahoma is a plus.
Preference will be given to the applicant who possesses a strong creative vision and ability to develop visually appealing presentations and other materials. Knowledge of Adobe Suite software for the PC and video production also are a plus. A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations or a related field is required. Application deadline is July 21.
